Shehr-e-Zaat is a Pakistani drama based on a novel of the same name by Umera Ahmed. It is directed by Sarmad Sultan Khoosat, and is currently being aired on Hum TV


Plot

Falak is an epitome of beauty and brains. Belonging to the elite class she has always been the centre of attention and never been deprived of anything. She falls in love and gets married to a handsome man Salman. They live happily together and Salman proves to be a good husband despite his father in law, Sher Afgan’s reservations. Life is super luxurious and full of joy when destiny decides doom for Falak. However, seemingly without reason, Salman starts behaving strangely distant. Due to her blind faith in Salman, Falak is devastated. She tries hard to please Salman and is shocked to find out that he is having an extra marital affair with a worker in his factory. Falak decides to handle this matter personally and plans a meeting with Salman’s mistress Tabinda. She goes to meet her in an aggressive state of mind, unaware, that the biggest shock of her life is awaiting her. She returns back with a heavy heart, without uttering a single word to Tabinda. The trauma is so nerve racking that she collapses suffering a major nervous breakdown. She comes back to consciousness with a broken heart and for the first time in life looks at her tragedy from a different perspective. Instead of craving for Salman’s lost love she ponders over the power of destiny. The fact that Salman preferred Tabinda, an ugly looking woman with a loose character over her, forced her to contemplate even more deeply. The blatant rejection by her beloved husband becomes the driving force, and she starts exploring concepts like the actual value of possessions. She comes across bitter realities and learns the true purpose of life. Salman does come back to her but only after she as learnt her lesson well and transformed into a different individual.
